Football Hooliganism, a term coined in the 1960's by the British Media, involves small random acts of violence in and around football stadiums throughout the world. The word has another definition, however, as gangs have been formed all over the world for specific football clubs. These gangs, called firms, organize fights well before or after mactehs, at undisclosed locations away from the stadium to avoid police attention. While some dismiss hooliganism as pointless violence, many do not realize the political, cultural, and historical aspects that it encompasses. People may consider themselves fans of a particular team, but there is nothing compared to the hooligans, who dedicate themselves completely to their club, and have changed the way that many people view the sport of Football/Soccer.
