District and Village Levels:

1. Dzongkhag Yargye Tshogchungs (DYTs or District Development Committees)

2. Gewog Yargye Tshogchungs (GYT/Block Development Committees)

National Level:

1. The National Assembly(Tshogdu):- 150 members in all: 105 elected representatives of the people(elected by people of their respective constituencies through secret ballot), 10 representatives of the Dratshang( Clergy)(elected by the respective District monk bodies and the Central Monk Body), 29 nominated representatives of the Government. Main Functions: To enact, ammend or repeal laws, elect Cabinet Ministers, elect Royal Advisory Councillors, approve the national budget, approve Five Year Plans formulated by the Government, deliberate on matters of national importance, national security and the well- being of the Bhutanese people.   The National Assembly meets twice in a year.                                        

2. The Royal Advisory Council( Lodey Tshogdu):- 9 members in all: 6 elected representatives of the people who hold office for three years, 2 elected representatives of the clergy who hold office for 1 year each, and 1 nominee of the Government- holding office for 3 years. Main Functions: To render advice to the Cabinet on matters of national importance, to promote the welfare of the people, to safeguard the national interests, to develop a harmonius relation between the people and the government and to insure the implementation of laws and resolutions passed by the National Assembly by both the Government and the people.

3. The Cabinet( Lhengyel Zhungtshog):- 15 members in all: 6 cabinet ministers elected by the National Assembly (term of 5 years each), and 9 Royal Advisory Councillors. Chairmanship( head of Govt.) of the Council of ministers on rotation among the Cabinet Ministers.

4. The Judiciary:- Independent of the executive and legislative functions of the Government. The High Court comprises of the Chief Justice and Seven judges. Judges have security of tenure. Jabmis (legal representatives) take theplace of what are solicitors and lawyers in other judiciary systems. On the district level: District Courts.

National Animal: The Takin.        

National bird: Black Necked Crane.

National flower: Blue Poppy.

National Sport: Archery.

Economy: Primarily dependent on agriculture, forestry, manufacturing and hydroelectricity.
