Everyone needs a Neil Perry. He's the kind of guy who cares about his friends, even the ones who think they have no friends, like Todd. He's smart, good looking and his priorities straight-- acting and self expression over the plans of his father. Granted, his father has other ideas for his son, and drives Neil to suicide, so that part we'll just pretend never happened. He's got a sense of humor, and if it weren't for him, no one in that pretentious little school full of teachers with their knickers in a bundle would ever have learned a thing from Mr. Keating (the inimitable Mr. Robin Williams.)
