Appointed by Spanish Department to serve as upper-class academic advisor between first and second year students and faculty advisors. Advise 5-10 students during semester about academic options and responsibilities.


The Center for Cross-Cultural Study, Seville, Spain Fall 2000
Assisted teacher in her preparation for evening English as a second language class for local adults. Encouraged students' participations during class activities and tutored students in basic-English grammar and expression after class.


Mount Holyoke Asian American Sisters in Action, South Hadley, Massachusetts Fall 1999-Spring 2000
Served as organization's historian. Recorded meetings and special events and preserved them in organization's archives. Advocated and promoted Asian American awareness and studies on campus.


Western Massachusetts Legal Services, Northampton, Massachusetts January 2000 Campaigned for Earned Income Tax Credit for low to moderate income working individuals. Produced materials and flyers for distributions in Franklin and Hampshire counties. Shadowed attorneys and paralegals in meetings, court motions, and trials.

Collaborated with team of 13 women during Spring break to rebuild a burnt church in a poor neighborhood.
Worcester Historical Museum, Worcester, Massachusetts Summer 1997-Summer 1999
Interviewed Vietnamese immigrants and refugees on journey to America and living experience and transcribed tape recordings for documentary archives and museum exhibits.

Asian Pacific American Youth of Worcester, Worcester, Massachusetts Fall 1997-Spring 1999

Co founded organization. Promoted community and youth activism, and implemented Asian Heritage Month Shows drawing 400-600 students and faculty. Facilitated identity, leadership, and social change workshops in Worcester schools and community.

Volunteered as clerical assistant, filed clients' cases, handled phone calls, and maintained normal functioning of office. Taught community disaster survival courses to elementary school children, responded to local fires, and set up emergency shelters.

Fundraised to support AIDS education and research locally in the Worcester areas. Organized and kept team rosters as captain for annual walks to benefit AIDS victims and survivors. Generated double increases of financial contributions over 3 years.
