Where important decisions are being made, you’re likely to find Barbara McClearn Baumann. She’s made a stellar career for herself in the male-dominated environment of oil and finance. Cross Creek Energy Corporation, which she has guided as president since its incorporation in 2003, provides consulting services for oil and gas exploration and production companies.
Previously, she held high-level financial, executive, and operational positions for energy-related firms including Associated Energy Managers and BP Amoco. Throughout her career, Baumann has been a strong supporter of women and a voice for women’s issues. This is particularly remarkable in the oil industry, which has been traditionally conservative and competitive and historically exclusive of women.
She also serves on the board of directors of UniSource Energy Corporation, Putnam Mutual Funds, Girls Inc. of Metro Denver, and Mount Holyoke College.
Her history of volunteer work for Mount Holyoke College is both extensive and significant, and includes two terms as a trustee. She cochairs the College’s $300 million campaign, been a Cornerstone Representative for the Development Office for the past decade, and served as vice-chair of the Presidential Search Committee.
For her business achievements and service to Mount Holyoke, the MHC Alumnae Association—which she has served as treasurer—awarded her both the Alumnae Medal of Honor and the Mary Lyon Award.
