Astrophysics Lab

The Astrophysics Lab provides space and resources for undergraduates to conduct research, ranging across senior theses, independent studies, and coursework. With four linux and three windows computers, the lab is optimized both for students just entering the field as well as advanced students working with cutting-edge data.Current projects include investigations into the structure and formation of galaxies using data collected with telescopes located in Arizona, Texas, and Chile, and space-based telescopes.

Current student projects are part of the MUSCEL program (MUltiwavelength observations of the Structure, Chemistry, and Evolution of LSB galaxies).Several students are using observations they've made at telescopes in locations such as Chile and Arizona help understand star-formation in LSB galaxies, while other students are using images from space telescopes to measure the dust and gas content of LSB galaxies.
