From The World According to Garp, to The Cider House Rules and A Widow for One Year, everyone loves a good story by John Irving. On October 21, the best-selling author returned to Mount Holyoke--where he taught three decades ago--to discuss his latest book, Last Night in Twisted River, and read from a draft of his upcoming thirteenth novel. He also answered audience questions.
Before the event, Irving, who was an assistant professor of English at MHC during the 1975-1976 and 1977-1978 academic years, talked with the Office of Communications about a variety of topics, from what it was like to be back at the College, to how he crafts his stories.
