The Gender Studies Major and Minor

The Gender Studies Major

Students who major in gender studies begin by taking introductory courses on women and gender, feminist theory, and methods and practices.

The major requires a minimum of 36 credits, which may be taken at Mount Holyoke and at the other Five Colleges. All majors undertake a field-study project in the junior or senior year and a senior capstone course connecting scholarship and social action. The Gender Studies Minor

The minor in gender studies requires a minimum of 20 credits, beginning with Gender Studies 101, Introduction to Gender Studies. See the Gender Studies chapter of the course catalogue for more information.
