For Students

Gorse Children’s Center is the laboratory school for the Department of Psychology and Education at Mount Holyoke College. The half-day Child Study program serves approximately 60 young children, ages 2.9 to 6, in a planned but flexible learning environment. There are four half-day programs: three preschool groups (two in the morning and one in the afternoon) and an afternoon kindergarten. The class sizes are typically between 12 and 16 children.

The full-day program can serve approximately 80 children (infants, toddlers, and preschoolers), plus an after-school program for kindergarten through third grade. Class sizes are appropriate for the ages of the children and follow Department of Early Education and Care guidelines.

Children who attend the Gorse Children's Center come from South Hadley, Granby, Belchertown, Chicopee, Holyoke and other surrounding communities. No College affiliation is required for enrollment.
