Almara and Pugh Grants

Deadline

The submission deadline for fall 2013 Almara applications is noon on 18 October 2013.

The submission deadline for spring 2014 Almara and Pugh applications is noon on 14 March 2014.

Application Instructions 

Please complete the form below. In addition to your contact information and a brief summary of your project, you will be asked to upload three documents to complete your application: transcript, essay, and budget; see more details below.

Section I

Transcript
Provide a copy of your current Mount Holyoke College transcript (available to you on ISIS). Save your transcript as a PDF and then upload your transcript below.

Academic Purpose of Project
Describe how your research project fits into your overall academic plan at Mount Holyoke College.  If you have arranged to pursue a History 295 or History 395 (or an independent study in another department), please let us know.

Recommendation
Please have a member of the department email a recommendation letter to Holly Sharac, Senior Administrative Assistant. Indicate here the name of the faculty member from whom you have requested a letter of recommendation.

Summary of Project
Please provide a one- or two-paragraph long abstract of your project. You will have the opportunity to provide a more detailed description in your essay below.

Section III

Essay
Submit a 2-3 page essay, accompanied by a brief bibliography. This should be saved as a Word or PDF file (.doc, .docx, or .pdf). Describe your project, including answers to the following questions:

  1. What is the specific subject of your project? Explain the historical nature of your project and your research questions. Why are they important?  How will you address them?
  2. Where do you intend to carry out your research? Why is it necessary to go there?
  3. How much research have you done on this project thus far?

Budget
Please upload a budget which states clearly the specific purpose(s) for which you are requesting funds. Your budget should also be formatted as a Word or PDF file (.doc, .docx, or .pdf).
