Application for Joseph Skinner Fellowship in History

The bequest of Joseph Skinner, a nineteenth-century industrialist who was a Trustee and Benefactor of the College. The Skinner Fellowship in History is awarded to a graduate of Mount Holyoke College who is pursuing graduate study on a full-time basis in a program that leads to a PhD degree in history. Previous recipients have worked on a range of periods and subjects. The fellowship is intended to assist graduate students in the completion of their degrees. Preference is therefore given to applicants who are completing their dissertations.

 The Joseph Skinner Fellowship in Art has a separate application.

Deadline

The submission deadline is noon on February 15, 2018.

Summary of Project
Please provide a one-paragraph long abstract of your project. You will have the opportunity to provide a more detailed description below.

Academic/Professional Recommendations
Please list the names, titles, and email addresses of three (3) persons whom you have asked to write letters of recommendation. These should be individuals who can speak directly about your previous and/or proposed work. (An applicant who has already received a Mount Holyoke College degree should name references concerning work pursued since receiving that degree. Very recent graduates may choose to include one or more references from the College.)

Submit a 1-2 page essay that describes how the fellowship would assist you in attaining your writing/research goals. This should be saved as a Word or PDF file (.doc, .docx, or .pdf). The first paragraph of your essay should be a summary of your project.
