For this interdisciplinary major, students work with their advisor or the program chair to plan a course of study that includes courses in medieval studies as well as related courses in art, history, languages, literature, music, and religion. Participating departments and programs include Ancient Studies, Art History, Classics, English, French, Music, History, Philosophy, Politics, Religion, and Spanish.
The major requires a minimum of 40 credits, including advanced course work in at least two disciplines. Majors will have opportunities to study medieval language or literature in English, French, Italian, Latin, or Spanish in a program worked out with the program chair or academic advisor. Students will be encouraged to acquire familiarity in a modern foreign language sufficient to use foreign language sources in advanced courses.
A minimum of 16 credits is required for the minor in Medieval Studies.
