Pascale Maria Argondizza ‘17 - Music and Philosophy

Irving R. Eisley Prize:
awarded to a senior who excels in writing about music.
and
Helen Blyth Hazen Music Prize II:
awarded to the outstanding senior whose excellent work in the department reflects the integration of music history, theory and performance.

"I am going to be spending the summer in California studying at Mills College as part of the Middlebury language programme, and then I'm starting an M.A. programme in Italian at Georgetown in the Fall. I'm really looking forward to engaging with the music community in D.C.!"

Selime Salim '17

Selime Salim ‘17 - Music and Psychology

Helen Blyth Hazen Music Prize I:
awarded to the outstanding senior who began the serious study of music at Mount Holyoke.

“I will be staying in the area for a large part of the summer, working in two Psychology research labs - one at Mount Holyoke College and one at UMass Amherst. In August, I am moving to Ohio and starting a Clinical Psychology PhD program at Miami University, OH.”

Emily Castner ‘18 - Mathematics Major, Music Minor

Music Department Prize:
awarded to the outstanding student of music in the junior class.

“This summer I will do research in geometry and serve as a counselor for Epsilon Camp and SigmaCamp, most likely while simultaneously singing nonstop.”

Eva Snyder '17

Eva Snyder ‘17 - Computer Science and Music

Michèle Scanlon Prize:
awarded to the outstanding senior whose successful effort creates a career path, combining music studies with work in other disciplines.

“Following graduation, I will be working full time for YouTube as an engineer and living in the heart of San Francisco, California. I also plan on going to Nashville, Tennessee multiple times a year to continue recording and playing shows to further my country music career and advance as a songwriter.”

Kimberly Ho '18 - Music

Dorothy Chancellor Currey Scholarship:
awarded to sophomore, junior and senior majors/minors who demonstrate excellence in music.

“This summer I will use LYNK funding to conduct ethnographic research in Tallinn, Estonia for my senior thesis on Estonian choral culture. After my trip, I'll spend August interviewing prospective students as a Harriet Newhall Fellow in the MHC Admissions Office.”

Shell Lin ‘17 - English Major, Music Minor

Dorothy Chancellor Currey Scholarship:
awarded to sophomore, junior and senior majors/minors who demonstrate excellence in music.

“I plan to take a gap year working as a business reporter in Beijing and at the same time explore my interest in photography, drawing, composing, and traveling. Next year, I'll come back to the States to attend CUNY School of Journalism in New York and work my way up to be a foreign correspondent.”

"This summer I will be working at the Tanglewood Music Festival in Lenox, Massachusetts as a Public Representative where I will gain experience in arts administration, ensemble management, and work with guest artists. I am looking forward to attending masterclasses and workshops in conducting, violin, and viola to enrich my studies over the summer."

“This summer, I am excited to participate in the Ensemble Singing Intensive workshop at the Amherst Early Music Festival, where we will be focusing on repertoire from the English Renaissance! I also look forward to being a library rat and studying choral literature, doing score study, and following research rabbit holes wherever my interests take me."

“This summer, I will be interning at San Francisco Opera in their Department of Education. I'll be working with SF Opera's school and community outreach programs, and learning about what goes on behind the scenes in a large opera company!”
