  • A second course at the 200 level and one course at the 300 level focusing on a specific area of study. Possible areas include: Knowledge and the Humanities; National and International Perspectives on Education; Gender and Education; Teaching and Learning; Educational Policy, Sport Pedagogy and Coaching, etc.
  • One 2-credit post-experiential course (possibly common to all Nexus programs, arranged by the Nexus Coordinator) culminating in a presentation at the fall symposium or Educational Studies 290, a capstone independent study 2-credit course culminating in a presentation at the fall symposium.

Other Possible Nexus Configurations

Education and the Arts, which would allow students to explore the role of the visual and performing arts in K-12 education with the support of the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum’s docent program and public outreach efforts and alumni at the Getty Museum and local teaching museums such as the Porter Phelps Huntington Museum; and work with the theatre arts and dance departments and local resources such as Springfield and Pioneer Valley performing arts schools.

Environmental Education, which could include academic course work in the sciences and social sciences along with experiential-based work at the Hitchcock Center for the Environment and other local and national education-oriented environmental businesses and centers.
