Dr. Francis X. Shen - Health Law Workshop

  Dr. Francis X. Shen, Harvard MGH Center for Law, Brain and Behavior Senior Fellow in Law and Neuroscience at Harvard Law School. He is also a McKnight Presidential Fellow, Associate Professor of Law, Graduate Program on Neuroscience at the University of Minnesota where he directs the Shen Neurolaw Lab (www.fxshen.com).

Dr. Shen conducts empirical and legal research at the intersection of law and neuroscience. He has co-authored 3 books, including the first Law and Neuroscience casebook, and published articles on a range of neurolaw topics, including memory and lie detection, criminal justice, brain injury, evidentiary admissibility, sports concussion, juror decision-making, criminal mental states, dementia, and mental health.  He will discuss his latest research at the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology, and Bioethics at Harvard Law School.

MHC '10 Alumna - Caroline Barstow, DVM

Presenter:  Dr. Barstow graduated from MHC in 2010 and Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2016. She interned with Hess Mcwilliams Veterinary Services starting in 2011 and just recently joined their practice in Amherst, working with both large and small animals. Caroline lives with her husband Steven on their family owned dairy farm at the base of Mount Holyoke.  She will talk about her career path and her internship at Town and Country Veterinary clinic in New Zealand.

MHC '10 Alumna Fiona Pirrocco, DO

Dr. Pirrocco graduated from MHC in 2010 and Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2015. She is currently a third year Pediatric resident at Baystate Children’s Hospital. Dr. Pirrocco will discuss her career path, with a focus on how she has navigated paying for medical school through the National Health Service Corps Scholarship Program.
