The Spanish language floor is a Living Learning Community created for students who wish to enhance their linguistic and cultural proficiency through daily intensive contact with the language and culture from different Spanish-speaking communities. It houses students from all class years with Spanish majors and minors, students who have studied or are in the process of applying to study abroad in Spanish-speaking countries, native and heritage speakers, as well as students with some previous experience in the language. For a more in depth description of what its like on living on the Spanish floor please see the interview with Maria Correa FP '16.
A shared goal is the commitment to become fluent in Spanish. Some of the activities, aimed at facilitating exposure and contact, include movie and game nights, cooking workshops, cultural workshops, and cultural celebrations. The Spanish Language Floor is currently in Mead Hall but will be located in Mandelle Hall beginning Fall 2017. Students interested in applying to live on the Spanish floor must contact the Office of Residential Life.
