Academic Buildings

Dwight Hall
Dwight Hall is home to our three academic centers: the McCulloch Center for Global Initiatives, the Miller Worley Center for the Environment and the Weissman Center for Leadership.

Clapp Laboratory
Clapp Laboratory, part of Mount Holyoke’s science complex, was named for Cornelia Clapp, member of the class of 1871 and professor emerita of zoology.

Kendade Hall
Kendade Hall, the nexus of the Mount Holyoke College Science Center. Kendade features numerous science-inspired elements in its physical design and is designated a LEED-certified green building.

Shattuck Hall
Shattuck Hall, built in 1932, houses a number of Mount Holyoke’s humanities and social sciences departments.

Skinner Hall
Skinner Hall, built in 1916 to serve as a classroom building for non-laboratory academics, houses several of Mount Holyoke’s social sciences departments, as well as the Student Financial Services office.

Williston Memorial Library
Photographed from Clapp Laboratory. Built in 1905, Williston Library houses over 800,000 volumes and is consistently ranked one of the most beautiful college libraries in the country.

Williston Memorial Library Reading Room
Modeled after Parliament’s Westminster Hall in London, the Reading Room is a beloved study spot.

Williston Memorial Library Atrium
The atrium features a 12-foot glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly titled “Clear and Gold Tower.”

Safford Hall
Safford Hall, a residence hall built in 1897, is known for its physical beauty, small size, intimate atmosphere and central location.

Pearsons Hall
Pearsons Hall, a residence hall built in 1897 and located across the street from the main campus, is known for its multiple, stately living rooms and spacious sunroom.

The Rockies
North Rockefeller Hall (pictured) and South, nicknamed the Rockies, were built in 1924 and are known for their spacious living rooms, sitting rooms and sun porches.

Mead Hall
Mead Hall, a residence hall built in 1901, was named after Elizabeth Mead, president of the College from 1890 to 1900. Mead was responsible for major changes in Mount Holyoke’s curriculum and structure that allowed the College to become one of the leading women’s institutions in the United States.

Creighton Hall
Creighton Hall (North and South), built in 2008, is Mount Holyoke’s newest residential building. Creighton has lakeside views, suite-style living, spacious modern living spaces and a Golden Pear kitchen.

Brigham Hall
Brigham Hall, built in 1897, is the oldest residence hall on campus. It was the first building to be completed after the original Seminary Building burned down in 1896, and was the home of the College presidents until 1909.

Community Center (exterior)
The exterior of Mount Holyoke’s Community Center, the hub of student life on campus. Extensively renovated and expanded in 2018, this building houses the Division of Student Life, student organization offices, the Unity Space and our on-campus eateries.

Dining Commons (exterior)
Mount Holyoke’s brand-new, state-of-the-art Dining Commons features a wide variety of menu options in nine themed stations, each boasting cooked-to-order and made-from-scratch foods, as well as locally-sourced produce and protein.

Pratt Music Hall
Pratt Music Hall contains teaching studios and classrooms, music and recording libraries, practice rooms, a computer lab devoted to musical applications, a virtual room that simulates acoustical environments, and a 250-seat performance hall.

Rooke Theatre (exterior)
Rooke Theatre contains a 192-seat performance space as well as classroom spaces, a costume shop, sound and lighting equipment, and a black box theater for classes and student-produced work.

Rooke Theatre is an intimate, wood-paneled space with a seating capacity of 192.

Art Building (exterior)
Mount Holyoke’s Art Building, which hosts the Art Studio and Art History departments, boasts ample classroom space and studios for painting, sculpture and printmaking.

Dance Studios

Mount Holyoke College Art Museum
An artifact gallery in the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum, home to over 17,000 pieces in its collections. First opened in 1876, ours is one of the oldest college art museums in the country.

Equestrian Center
Mount Holyoke’s Equestrian Center, home to our hunter seat, dressage and western riding teams. Located on campus, our Equestrian Center is considered to be one of the finest facilities for educational and competitive riding available to students anywhere.

Kendall Sports and Dance Complex
Kendall Sports & Dance Complex, home to our 13 varsity sports and physical education and recreation programs. The building contains the Mount Holyoke Fitness Center, Mildred S. Howard Gymnasium, the Mount Holyoke Natatorium, the Mount Holyoke Field House and the Mount Holyoke Dance Studios.

Athletic Fields
The athletic fields that surround Kendall Sports & Dance Complex. They include the Mount Holyoke Turf & Track Complex, the Mount Holyoke Soccer Field, the Mount Holyoke Activity Field and the Mount Holyoke Tennis Courts. Also in close proximity are the College's Canoe House and a scenic one-mile loop around Upper Lake for running, walking or riding a horse.

Community Boathouse
The Mount Holyoke Community Boathouse, situated along the Connecticut River on 8.5 acres of College-owned land. Built in 2010, the Boathouse is home to our rowing team and also offers local community members access to the river.

Fimbel Maker & Innovation Lab (exterior)
Fimbel Maker & Innovation Lab, a brand-new 8,000-square-foot facility that contains wood and metal workshops, 3D printers, laser cutters, sewing machines, a full kitchen, convertible multipurpose spaces, and anything else our students may need to implement diverse concepts of creation.
