About Early Decision
Designed for students who have made Mount Holyoke their first choice, Early Decision provides an admission decision in early winter, either January 1 or February 1.
If you apply Early Decision you may apply to other colleges, but you may not apply Early Decision to any other college. If you are admitted Early Decision, you must withdraw all other applications.
Early Decision candidates are competing with a smaller number of students, but with those of the same high quality as Regular Decision candidates. However, the fact that Early Decision students are making a commitment to Mount Holyoke and obviously have great enthusiasm for the College is taken into account when rendering decisions.
Some applicants who are not accepted under Early Decision will have their applications deferred and considered with the Regular Decision applicants. The College will notify you about whether your Early Decision application has been deferred or refused.
