Maria Jose Correa is an International Relations major who joined the Mount Holyoke community in the fall of 2013. Maria chose Mount Holyoke because, she says, “my whole life I’ve had to prove men that I was capable of doing the same things as them” while maintaining “my role as a woman. At Mount Holyoke, the only person I have to prove anything to is myself. There is nobody here that judges me for my appearance, my hair, or my nails; it is only my intellect that is judged every day." A member of the Squash team, Maria is also a Spanish tutor and an Assistant in the Latin American Studies Department. In her free time, she likes to go to the gym at the Kendall Sports and Dance Complex, watch movies, and drink mate with friends.
