Edem Torkornoo, Class of 2013 is an Economics major and a Journalism, Media, and Public Discourse Nexus minor who is currently working on a thesis on economic development in Tanzania and Ethiopia. Edem has held several impressive internships including with the Daily Hampshire Gazette and the Global Fund for Women, a foundation started by a Mount Holyoke alumna, and in 2011 she studied abroad through the Mount Holyoke Program in Montpellier, France.  She currently serves as one of the co-chairs for the Daughters of Zion, is the secretary of the Mount Holyoke African and Caribbean Students' Association (MHACASA), and is a writer for the Mount Holyoke News. When she has the chance, she loves to catch up on Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy, and find “spoken word and artsy events” with her friends in the Five College Area.
