Emmy Bouvier, Class of 2013 is a Gender Studies major and African American Studies minor who is currently writing her thesis on Black Power radical Stokely Carmichael. She spent last semester at Northwestern University in Chicago because of its strong program in African American Studies and her interest in the Midwest. At Mount Holyoke, she is very involved with the Student Government Association and the Rugby Club, and recommends that new students take the class “Hiking the Pioneer Valley,” and make a field trip to get ice cream from Flayvors of Cook Farm in Hadley. She is currently applying for teaching fellowships in New York City that will allow her to work towards her Master’s degree.
