Erin Pierce, class of 2015, is an Environmental Studies major and a Computer Science minor. She has been working as a research assistant for Professor Kate Ballantine's Restoration Ecology lab since January, 2014 collecting soil samples to measure greenhouse gas potentials and analyze soil composition. She hopes to continue her work with Professor Ballantine as a senior thesis. During the summer of 2013, Erin interned as a Software Quality Engineer with Intuit in Waltham, MA, and the previous summer she worked as a research assistant at Mount Holyoke through the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Summer Program. When not giving tours for the admission office, Erin plays on the Ultimate Frisbee team and sings with the a cappella group the M&Cs. When asked what she loves about Mount Holyoke, Erin says, “All of my professors here are excited about what they are teaching and that makes me enthusiastic about learning. Being in an environment where people are engaged with their education in and out of the classroom is something I am thankful for every day.”
