Pia Matthes, class of 2014, double majors in Economics and German Studies. Her senior thesis unites these two disciplines to focus on “Turkish immigration in Germany” with a special emphasis on the fate of Turkish business owners in that country. Outside of the classroom, Pia is not only Co-President of the German Club, but the CFO of Women in Business, a student organization that aims to prepare women for careers in the business world. Last summer, Pia interned as a financial analyst at JP Morgan Chase & Co. Upon graduating, she will return to JP Morgan as a member of their Finance Analyst Development Program. In her free time, Pia enjoys watching movies, relaxing with friends, and exploring the Five-College area. What she appreciates most about Mount Holyoke is its commitment to producing “strong and independent women.” Pia herself is no exception to this rule: she is slated to complete her degree a full year ahead of schedule.
