Umme Lena

Diversity Outreach Fellow

Umme Lena, class of 2016, double majors in Biology and English. Outside of class, Umme is quite busy as the Multifaith Representative of the Muslim Student Association, a staff writer for the Mount Holyoke News, and the secretary of the Mount Holyoke Outing Club. She also works at Uncommon Grounds – a coffee shop housed in the Williston Library and perennial favorite of students looking for a quick pick-me-up while studying. Umme has interned as a Social Media Developer for the Coming of Faith project and volunteered at the Flushing Queens Library. In her free time, Umme likes to head to Amherst for Starbucks and bubble tea, or simply bike around campus, since its beauty, she says, is never lost on her, “even when classes begin to get stressful.”
