Vickie Victor

Diversity Outreach Fellow

Vickie Victor, class of 2018, is from Miami, FL. She is what she calls an unexpected Computer Science major. She initially rejected her first-year advisor’s suggestion to take a computer science course but fell in love with it when she finally did. Outside of her major, she is interested in studying the history of Afro-Latin America, an interest that stems from her Haitian-American identity. Her hobbies include attempting to dance and working out. Vickie is involved in Hope of Haiti, an organization that raises money to support a primary school in Haiti, and Mount Holyoke Christian Fellowship. She spent her last spring semester abroad in Budapest, Hungary focusing on her computer science studies at AIT-Budapest. Prior to studying abroad, she was one of the chairs of the Computer Science Society. This past summer she worked at YouTube as a Software Engineering Intern which she says would not have been possible without the support of her peers. Vickie fell in love with Mount Holyoke after visiting for a weekend and being inspired by every student she met. You can always hear Vickie saying, “If I didn’t come to Mount Holyoke, I wouldn’t have grown to become the person I am today.”
