Sharanya Shankar, Class of 2013 is a Politics major and a Journalism, Media and Public Discourse Nexus minor who is currently working on a thesis on challenges facing female presidential candidates, which will focus on campaign finance and media coverage. Sharanya has held several impressive internships while at MHC, including at the American India Foundation, Hearst Wire, and for the California Attorney General’s Office as a Press Intern. Last semester Sharanya was at Georgetown University working and studying in DC, and now that she’s back on campus she serves as the President of Awaz, the Co-Chair of Sisters of Hinduism Reaching Inward (SHRI), and the Co-Chair of Raunak Bhangra, Mount Holyoke's Bhangra dance team. Sharanya says that she’s “guilty of religiously reading celebrity gossip,” and hopes to run her first marathon this year!
