This fall, the Dean of Faculty Search Committee hosted several open fora with students, staff, faculty and members of the American Association of University Professors. We also met individually or in small groups with current and former deans and associate deans, current staff in the Dean of Faculty’s office and current members of the Cabinet. Across these sessions, we heard remarkable consensus about the scope of the position, the rigor and meaning of the work, the ideal qualities and qualifications of a successful dean and the current priorities, challenges and opportunities facing the new dean. Thanks to everyone who joined these conversations for your time, energy and candor. Your input was instrumental in shaping the position specification. Our partners at Storbeck Search have begun to build the candidate pool. To self-nominate or nominate a colleague within or beyond the Mount Holyoke community, please write to firstname.lastname@example.org. Please reach out to Amber Douglas and KC Haydon (Search Committee Co-Chairs) with feedback or questions.
