Italian Renaissance Maiolica, 1986

Wendy M. Watson

This catalogue accompanied an exhibition that resulted from a collaboration between the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum and the Corcoran Gallery of Art.  The Corcoran’s collections include an outstanding collection of Italian Renaissance maiolica, and the Mount Holyoke College Art Museum’s curator had a strong interest in the material. This catalogue addresses the significance of this “minor art” and its close associations with the major arts, the literature, and the intellectual currents of the Italian Renaissance.
