Where We Are

Think New England. Think Pioneer Valley. It’s one of the most culturally vibrant areas in the country—and home to some of its most prestigious colleges and museums. It’s scenic. It’s funky. The scenery is spectacular, the attractions are acclaimed, and, yes, you can get a great cup of coffee! We’re in South Hadley, Massachusetts.  No matter what the season, it’s a creative place you won’t want to miss!

Our corner of Massachusetts is home to some terrific restaurants offering a wide range of casual and fine cuisine.

Lodging

There are plenty of options for accommodations within easy reach of campus. On the campus itself, the Willits-Hallowell Conference Center includes 20 guest rooms with all the amenities you’d expect from a fine hotel. Call 413.538.2217 for reservations.

Directions

The Museum is located on the Mount Holyoke College campus in South Hadley, Massachusetts, 12 miles north of Springfield and 10 miles south of Amherst, Massachusetts.

From the North:
Take Interstate 91 South to exit 20 (Northampton / Hadley). Turn left at first stoplight (onto Damon Road), go one mile to Route 9. Turn left onto Route 9 and cross the Coolidge Bridge over the Connecticut River. Turn right at first stop light, following sign "To Route 47 South Hadley," and travel approximately eight miles to South Hadley center. Continue straight through intersection with Route 116 to Park Street. Take second right onto Lower Lake Road. The Museum is on the right, adjacent to the greenhouse.

From the South:
Take Interstate 91 North to exit 16 (Route 202 Holyoke / South Hadley). Turn right and proceed on Route 202 North through Holyoke and across the Connecticut River. Continue on Route 202 and take the second exit marked "South Hadley Center / Amherst" to Route 116 North. The college is approximately two miles north of the exit. At the traffic light at the north end of the campus, turn right onto Church Street. Take the second right onto Lower Lake Road. The Museum is on the right, adjacent to the greenhouse.

From the West: Take the Massachusetts Turnpike
(I-90 East ) to exit 4 (West Springfield). Turn onto Interstate 91 North and follow directions from the south.

From the East: Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90 West) to exit 5 (Holyoke / Chicopee). Bear right toward South Hadley. At end of exit ramp, turn left onto Route 33 and travel approximately five miles until you reach Route 116. Turn right onto Route 116 North and drive two miles to the College. At the traffic light at the north end of the campus, turn right onto Church Street. Take the second right onto Lower Lake Road. The Museum is on the right, adjacent to the greenhouse.
