As a high school student in the 1960’s, Marcy Wilkov Waterman was devoted to public service and passionate about government. She was attracted to Mount Holyoke College by the unique Washington Internship Program created by Professor Schuck. Upon graduation, her 1969 internship with the Democratic National Committee led to a paying job and a chance to work on the 1972 Democratic National Convention.
The relationships Waterman developed through those opportunities put her on a career path that included working as a lobbyist, graduating from NYU Law School, and enjoying a 30- year career as a business and antitrust lawyer at American Express Company. Her final role at American Express was as Corporate Ombudsperson, providing a confidential resource to 60,000 employees worldwide and leading a global team. Since her retirement in 2014, Marcy has continued to serve as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of a NYC non-profit that provides a full range of services to homeless New Yorkers. She is also active in community affairs in Montauk, NY and volunteers for MHC.
