All CBL Fellows, tutors and mentors, who will be placed at a CBL partnering agency serving children 18 years or younger, will need to complete a Criminal Offender Records Information (CORI) check.
CBL Tutor Liasons working in youth partnership programs and student teachers placed through Mount Holyoke's Teacher Licensure Program will need to be fingerprinted. These procedures are in place as mandated by Massachusetts State Law.
All CBL Fellows, tutors and mentors will be required to complete a CORI. CORI's will be processed and filed with the partnering/host agency. CBL Youth Partnership programs will facilitate this process at orientation and on an individual basis, as needed. After you complete your CORI form, the partnering host/agency will submit your personal information to the DCJIS. They will receive the results; a placement will not move forward until this process is complete. Your site Supervisor will inform you of the CORI completion date.
CBL Fellows and other students acting in roles where they are likely to be left in unsupervised custody of youth in school programs (including: CBL Tutor Liaisons, student teachers, mentoring group leaders, club leaders, etc.) are required to complete a Fingerprint record mandated through Statewide Applicant Fingerprint Identification Services (SAFIS). Tutor Liaisons will need to make an appointment to go to a kiosk and get fingerprinted for the SAFIS. It is best to do this in conjunction or as near to your start date at your host agency.
Please consult with Mount Holyoke College's Youth Partnership Coordinator (YPC), Kristine Rose, to determine the best time and means for attending a fingerprinting appointment. In the 2017-2018 academic Year, CBL is prepared to pay the fee associated with the SAFIS and to arrange transportation if possible for CBL Program students; the college's Education program will bear the costs for student teachers (please see Sarah Frenette, email@example.com).
CBL students will be responsible for: 1) scheduling your appointment (contact the YPC, Kristine Rose for assistance); 2) making certain transportation has been arranged; 3) being on time for the appointment (you will lose your appointment if not on time); bringing ID, acceptable on the ID list:
*IMPORTANT: You will need to submit proof of a scheduled appointment AND submit a receipt to your host district.
Please contact Kristine Rose, firstname.lastname@example.org if you have questions, and if you need assistance to schedule a Fingerprinting appointment. 413.538.2491
