We are deeply grateful to the Mount Holyoke extended community for the support you have already shown to current students during the past few weeks, and to so many of you who have asked how you can help. COVID-19 has disrupted many students' summers and post-MHC plans, and so we are writing now to ask for your assistance. If you are in a position to take on a student intern (paid or unpaid), or have an open position at your company or organization (including short-term projects and other temporary work opportunities), will you please share the details so that we may pass the opportunity along to Mount Holyoke students?
Many employers are cancelling their internship programs and rescinding full-time job offers. The cancellation of these programs worldwide represents more than a disturbance to students' summer plans, but also the loss of valuable work experience, networking opportunities, and pipelines to future careers. The Career Development Center is working diligently to support our students during this economic paradigm shift. Now more than ever, we need the support of our Mount Holyoke community. We will post the opportunities you share in our job and internship platform, Handshake. In keeping with current social distancing requirements and many organizations moving to a remote work model, our primary interest is in opportunities that can be worked remotely (an employer guide to offering remote internships can be found here).
If your organization already uses Handshake to post positions open to college students and recent college graduates, you may post your opportunity on Handshake here. For assistance, please contact your Human Resources department or the Mount Holyoke College Career Development Center staff at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you would like information about how to create a Handshake employer profile for your organization, please contact us at email@example.com.
Thank you for your continued support of Mount Holyoke College during these challenging times.
With gratitude and best wishes,
Career Development Center
