Operating level thresholds
Operating Level 1: Normal COVID-19 Operations
- Cases are low and transmission controlled. Continue health screenings daily. Adhere to campus mask guidance.
- Follow campus mask mandates
- Asymptomatic testing planned through the semester
- Students able to leave campus in accordance with community compact
- Follow campus safety protocols and personal healthy hygiene practices, including current mask protocols
- Unvaccinated individuals must wear masks indoors, even when mask mandates are not in place
- Outdoor masking encouraged regardless of vaccination status when distance cannot be maintained, and may be required for certain events
Operating Level 2: Modified Normal COVID 19 Operations with Heightened Awareness
- Moderate number of cases with most from a known source. Limit further exposure for yourself and others to COVID-19 and continue all precautions.
- Students tested twice per week, on campus employees tested on normal schedule
- Students requested to limit movement off campus to purchase necessities, off campus work, shopping and health appointments
- No visitors or guests allowed in any campus building except approved vendors/contractors/applicants
- Implement alternative instruction modes/locations and work options in units/areas impacted as needed
- Implement limits on campus activities and events as safeguard for spread of the disease
Operating Level 3: Restricted COVID 19 Operations
- Many cases, including community spread with some undetected cases. Limit everyday activities to reduce spread.
- Continue testing during this period, students twice per week
- Students must remain on campus and can only access their residence hall and dining commons, limited exceptions for off campus work or health appointments
- No visitors, guests, vendors or contractors allowed in any campus building. Exceptions only for vendors/contractors providing emergency service
- Limit buildings open to students in order to reduce movement and interactions
- Advise campus to begin twice-daily health checks
- Implement remote instruction and work options in units/areas impacted as needed
- Significantly reduce campus activities and events
- Limit dining services to take out
Operating Level 4: Severely Restricted COVID 19 Operations - temporary or ongoing
- Widespread uncontrolled outbreak with many undetected cases. Take strong measures to limit all contact.
- Dining services modified if in room quarantine called
- All classes and events in remote format
- Students must remain on campus and can only access their residence hall and dining commons
- Many buildings will be closed
- Consider additional testing if student or employee cases continue to grow
- Non essential staff and faculty to work remotely
- No visitors, guests, vendors or contractors allowed in any campus building. Exceptions only for vendors/contractors providing emergency service
Semester Launch: Student Move-in and Semester Launch
- Semester Launch January 2022- limited movement, unvaccinated students from international locations must not leave campus for 7 days.
- Students report for first COVID test upon arrival
- Asymptomatic testing for on campus and commuter students twice weekly
- All community members to wear masks at all times in indoor locations except when alone in their private space
- Students arriving unvaccinated from international locations must remain on campus for 7 days, all others should stay on campus as much as possible
- All residential students should limit movement off campus only to purchase necessities, off campus work, shopping, health appointments and in person Five College classes
- All classes held remotely for the first two weeks
- Other interactions/meetings/events to be held remotely when possible, Orientation events will be in various formats.
- Stay vigilant about any COVID guidance and adjustments to protocols for specific events or buildings
