The sculptor Keizo Ushio began and completed a fascinating sculptural piece during ISAMA 99. The series of images below catch Keizo at work during several stages.

The images are from photos taken by Char Morrow.

Keizo starts to work on Monday, June 7, 1999, outside the School of Architecture, University of the Basque Country, San Sebastien.

At the end of the week, the final split begins. Conference organizer Javier Barallo on the left faces the camera, while conference organizer Nat Friedman, getting a close-up photo, can be seen on the far right next to Keizo.

The heavy lifting begins. Javier stays in a key position while Nat has wisely moved out of the picture.
Boards are removed, one-by-one.

Now, it's just Keizo issuing instructions that are critical: The wrong move will destroy his creation!

Success!

Keizo stands beside his finished product.
