## January 9, 2013

I am starting work on the web material for the spring 2013 Matlab course. You will find, under Matlab features over on the left of this page, discussion and examples of the various commands in the language.

## Textbooks

### required textbook

Essential Matlab for Engineers and Scientists, Hahn and Valentine, 4th Edition

Another reasonable textbook to consider is:

MATLAB: A Practical Introduction to Programming and Problem Solving

by Stormy Attaway (Elsevier, 2009)

especially good if you are new to programming. Another book:

Numerical Computing with MATLAB (revised reprint)

by Cleve B. Moler (SIAM, 2004)

by the inventor of MATLAB, is more a collection of case studies in how MATLAB can be used. It is not at all required but might be of interest for those planning intense use of Matlab in scientific work. You can find much of the material in the latter book online (see the resources link).

I will also look for more links to online tutorials. Stay tuned.
