The Santa Fe Institute will host an REU this summer. Research
topics will be in the Institute's specialty, complex systems.
Otherwise, the topics (and even dates) are flexible.
The Carleton College Summer Mathematics
Program for Women Undergraduates is a
sort of "pre-REU" aimed at women undergraduates who have taken the
intermediate-level math courses, but not all the upper-level courses.
The
REU at Trinity University
this summer will include research projects in
abstract algebra, combinatorics, mathematical programming, and
discrete dynamical systems.
The Summer Program for Undergraduate Research at UMass features
research experience working with UMass faculty members. It is open
only to US citizens or permanent residents who are African American,
Hispanic, or Native American.
- Program dates: June 6 - August 1, 2004
- Application deadline: February 27, 2004
- Location: Amherst, Massachusetts

The NSF Engineering Research Center for Reconfigurable
Manufacturing Systems will host an REU at the University of
Michigan this summer. This is an engineering REU; the projects all
have to do with the design of manufacturing systems.
The 2004 Program for Women in Mathematics
is a ten-day workshop at the Institute for Advanced Study
in Princeton. This year's program includes lectures and seminars on
analysis and nonlinear partial differential equations.
The
Summer Program for Women in Mathematics
at George Washington University is a five-week program of
intensive mathematics seminars, workshops, panel discussions, and
field trips for women mathematics majors completing their junior
year.
- Program dates: June 26 - July 31, 2004
- Application deadline: March 1, 2004
- Location: Washington DC

The EDGE Program for Women (Enhancing Diversity in
Graduate Education)
is a summer program for women especially minority women
who are
about to begin work on a PhD in mathematics. At the core of the
program are courses in algebra and analysis, meant to prepare you for
the first year of graduate school. If you are a senior and have
applied to a mathematics PhD program, you are probably eligible to
apply for EDGE.
The REU at Mt. Holyoke will include a research project on
Ramanujan graphs led by Giuliana Davidoff.
The
Knowledge Exchange
Institute
has summer mathematics research programs in Russia
and Spain. Note that these
program are not funded -- you have to pay tuition.
The RISE Scholars program at the University of Maryland's Clark School
of Engineering offers summer research experiences is many engineering
fields. Participants receive a generous stipend. The students,
mentors, and faculty are all women.
The Ohio State University will host an REU this summer
in applied statistics and biostatistics.
Participants receive a stipend, a housing allowance, and travel support.
