With the declaration of war in April, the crusading element of the French Revolution burst forth with claims that the French were bringing liberty, equality, and fraternity to all peoples desiring liberation. Using the new science of electricity, the Revoution produces the shock of Liberty to electrocute Joseph II of Austria, the ruler of the Netherlands, George III of England, Pope Pious VI, Frederick William II (the tyrant of Prussia), Charles IV (the despot of Spain), the scoundrel of Sardinia, Victor Emédée IIII, and "Big Catherine" II of Russia. This water color Water color of 1793. The Committee of Public Safety had 1000 copies of this print made and distributed.
