I think the question of motivation has a lot to do with the Neoclassical idea that all people are inheriently greedy. No matter what system we grow up in, we are motivated then by the desire to own things, the desire to take part in the materialistic side of the society. Therefore, it is insignificant what system we are taught, because, according to Neoclassical economic theory, we are all motivated to work.
