I've come to understand that social class is a label that tends to follow people throughout there lives. The more powerful people tend to make the decisions for the less powerful. Therefor they are thoughout to be higher on the social class scale. It all depends on what you think is power. Power to could be money, who you know, or what you know. In dealing w/ economics I believe it to be money, who owns what and how much of that do they own.
A person's position in society could be based on their family's past position. They could move up or down depending on how their lives are designed to be.
