question about Grapes of Wrath

Posted by Molly Olm-Shipman on November 8, 2000 at 19:51:26:

Okay, so this is feudalim- but did I hear in class one day that feudalism can only exist if it does not have competitors (ie, capitalism)
We had this discussion about the North abolishing slavery, and then putting huge tarriffs on equipment necessary to farm in the South. So slavery died;
what is the argument here? I know that one system can exist in another, so does anyone remember what the answer was to the debate we had in class a while ago
about slavery?
