This is kind of a strange comment to make, but I thought of it at some point in our class discussion and never got a chance to voice it. Did anybody else find the whole emphasis on nice suits interesting? I was thinking about it and on several occasions the more senior brokers make comments about the new brokers suits and how the look like shit. The thing is, as Seth put it, this was an office deep in Long Island about an hour from Wall Street. All the men who worked there where young tough guys. Why did they care so much about their appearence? They were the only ones that saw each other. Then when the brokers from Wall Street saw them they commented on the way they were dressed and how they looked like mafia men, or something along those lines. As a side note I was also curious about the whole no women thing, I understand that they were already involved in a lot of illegal pursuits did they just feel like adding sexual discrimintation to the list. Wouldn't they need some women to keep up with affirmative action like the rest of the brokerages, and why would they not want women in the first place. Ok, just a couple of things I was curious about, take it for what you will.
