For Summer 2001, STEP plans to select six students (current juniors,
seniors, graduate students, or recent graduates) for three projects
(to be determined).
This is a paid internship that also provides food and housing. The
project dates are June 10 - August 2, 2001.
Service Training for Environmental Progress (STEP)
Service Training for Environmental Progress (STEP) is an environmental
service-learning program based in the Virginia Water Resources Research
Center. It is operated in partnership with the Virginia Tech Service-Learning
Through STEP, students become service-learners, working in VA communities
to investigate water-related environmental issues identified by
the community. Students receive training designed to prepare them
for a range of water-quality issues or activities with which communities
might need technical assistance, such as testing well water, setting
up a surface water-monitoring network, or learning how to prevent
