Internship Opportunity:
Service Training for Environmental Progress (STEP)

Service Training for Environmental Progress (STEP) is an environmental service-learning program based in the Virginia Water Resources Research Center. It is operated in partnership with the Virginia Tech Service-Learning Center.

Through STEP, students become service-learners, working in VA communities to investigate water-related environmental issues identified by the community. Students receive training designed to prepare them for a range of water-quality issues or activities with which communities might need technical assistance, such as testing well water, setting up a surface water-monitoring network, or learning how to prevent groundwater pollution.

For Summer 2001, STEP plans to select six students (current juniors, seniors, graduate students, or recent graduates) for three projects (to be determined).

This is a paid internship that also provides food and housing. The project dates are June 10 - August 2, 2001.

To apply, send a resume, transcript, and writing sample (750 words or less; any subject) by February 26. Students will be selected by March 14.
