Questions for Chapter 9

Posted by Sivaswami Giridharan on October 8, 2003 at 12:06:50:

Mr. Partridge says that saluting the flag is a sign of respect whereas Dale sees saluting the flag as a form of worship.

What is the difference between respect and worship?

Maria points out there are laws of the country that tell you to do one thing and Dale points out that there are divine laws that tell you to do another thing.

When there are two conflicting sources telling you what to do, what is the right thing to do? How do you know

Mr. Partridge says, "there are some things people expect of you...you'll be a better person accepting what I've told you."

Can you think of a time where someone told you to do something and it wasn't good for you? How do you know when to accept and reject what people tell you and why? Do you think you are ultimately listening to yourself when you do something?
