Leanna works with Mount Holyoke faculty and staff developing new graduate, summer, educational, and cultural programs for the College. She is on the core planning committee for the 2011-2012 Year of Wendy Wasserstein.

Leanna James Blackwell has more than fifteen years’ experience in higher education administration, curriculum development, communications, and teaching. She is the former senior director of programming, director of communications, and interim executive director of the Alumnae Association of Mount Holyoke College. Prior to coming to Massachusetts, Leanna was a faculty member and acting chair of the English, Language Arts, and Performance Studies department at John F. Kennedy University in California, where she taught writing, drama, and speech and directed M.A.T. student theses. Leanna is a former artistic director of TKO, an educational theatre company for young people. She is a published essayist and playwright, and a managing member of the Northampton Playwrights’ Lab.
