The first step for faculty who are planning to retire is to make an appointment with the dean of faculty and human resources. Both offices welcome the opportunity to meet with faculty members to help them in their planning.
Staff in the dean's office are available for one-on-one meetings with faculty who are thinking about retirement. To meet with someone to explore the phased retirement plan or other retirement options, please call x3093 to set up a meeting.
Human resources will work with faculty on an individual basis to navigate the retirement process. The human resources website has a variety of information about pre-retirement planning, the College's retirement plan, and additional retiree benefits. If you have questions about faculty benefits in retirement, contact Cindy Legare, benefits and training manager, or Teresa Azahar, benefits and training specialist.
LITS has information about how retiring faculty can transition their college-owned computer and software. When a faculty member retires, they have the option to purchase any of their assigned computers at a cost based on the depreciated value of the computer (plus applicable sales tax). More information can be found in Mount Holyoke's Retiring Faculty Computer Policy.
More information about benefits for faculty in retirement can be found on the emeriti website.
