Catherine Bell

  • Instructor in Early Music

Catherine Bell, MM, is a faculty member in the Five College Early Music Program. She directs Voces Feminae, leads the Medieval Ensemble and sometimes co-leads the 17th-Century Song Seminar. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Theater and Music from Hampshire College and a Master’s in Vocal Performance from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, where she studied with Jon Humphrey. She plays keyboard, guitar, harp and percussion, is the cantor and choir director at St. Brigid’s Church in Amherst and teaches voice privately. She debuted as a vocal soloist at age 14 at Farnborough Abbey, UK and performs and directs as wide a variety of repertory as possible from ancient through contemporary.
