He has studied under teachers Michael DeQuattro (Rhode Island College), Ayano Kataoka (UMass-Amherst), Dave Fox, and Thomas P. Hannum (UMass-Amherst). He has performed and been a featured artist in various settings throughout New England including work with the University of Massachusetts Minuteman Marching Band, Crossmen, Spartan, and Hurricanes Drum and Bugle Corps, The Valley Winds, Chosen Vale Percussion Seminar, Pioneer Valley Symphony Orchestra, Amherst Symphony Orchestra, Windham Orchestra, Illuminati Vocal Arts Ensemble, Harvard Pro Musica, South Hadley Chorale, and others. Currently Dustin is a freelance artist in western Massachusetts and regularly teaches at Mount Holyoke College (South Hadley, MA), Belchertown Public Schools (MA), and Enfield High School (CT). Dustin enjoys engaging with students’ personal interests to find a way to mix in percussion and drumming practice with their existing interests and classes. Most of his students are not music majors so he is interested in helping facilitate music in a way that supports them to find a healthy and balanced lifestyle that encourages artistic and creative exploration.
