Shannon Mooney studies and teaches twentieth and twenty first century American literature. Her research works at the intersections of ethnic studies, critical whiteness studies, and cultural geography. Her current book project explores the emergence of literary and cultural texts set in the state of New Jersey in the 1990s and early 2000s, and asks what the state's portrayal of white ethnic identity reveals about white reactionary politics in the U.S.
