Physics Graduate School Panel

Mount Holyoke physics alumnae share advice about graduate school.

•How do you know if graduate school is right for you?
•How do you find the graduate school that is best for you?
•How does the application process work?
•What about the GREs?

Join the Physics Department and recent MHC physics graduates as they walk you through the graduate school search and application process.

Emily Tansey '13

Emily completed her master's degree in solid state physics with a minor in environmental physics at the Institute for Solid State Physics at University of Bremen in Germany. Her master's thesis was on organic bulk heterojunction solar cells, similar to what she worked on with Prof. Alexi Arango's lab group. She is now changing fields, focusing on climate change modeling, the impact of troposphere dynamics and cloud physics at the University of Washington in Seattle.

Colbie Chinowsky '16

Colbie is a part of the Cell and Developmental Biology program at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee.

Alyssa McKenna '12

Alyssa just completed the Materials Science and Engineering graduate program at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. The title of her dissertation is Photo-induced Structural Dynamics of Molybdenum Disulfide. She recently started a position as a Senior Engineer in the Analytical Sciences in Core Research & Development department at Dow Chemical Company.

Huma Yusuf '15

Huma is currently a third year student at Ohio State University working in Professor Chris Hammel's group. Her group focuses on understanding dynamic interaction in magnetic structures, which have potential application in nanoscale magnetometry and imaging tools.
