"The reason why I chose Mount Holyoke College is because my whole life I had to prove men that I was capable of doing the same things as them as well as keeping my role as a woman. At Mount Holyoke, the only person I have to prove is myself. There is nobody here that judges me for my appearance, my hair, or my nails; it is only my intellect that is judged every day."
I am an international student from Argentina and I would like to major in International Relations with a focus in Latin America. In 2001, after finishing high school, a recession hit Argentina and also my dreams of getting a higher education. Without hesitation, I enrolled in the Argentinean Coast Guard and I graduated with the highest GPA between 110 male students and also as the first female Lieutenant in the history of the force. I was awarded with a Sailing Training with the Uruguayan Navy where I traveled for six months and visited six countries. After that experience, I decided to pursue a career in Travel and Tourism. I came to the United States as an Au Pair where I worked as a babysitter in Wellesley, MA. I started taking ESL classes at Bunker Hill Community College in Boston, MA where I graduated in June 2013, with an Associate’s Degree in Hospitality. At BHCC, I became a student leader representing 14.000 students as a Student Trustee for the period 2012-2013. My dream is to work in the development of third world countries in Latin America.
